The ICP is a site for BBC Studios' prospective customers to discover and search for video content, as well as to watch screeners and promos of that content where available. It was designed to be quick and easy to navigate whether browsing or searching, and provides an intuitive and familiar interface built on the BBC's GEL design patterns.

Content sales makes up a large part of BBC Studios' revenues, and are a significant part of the company's growth plans over the next few years. The ICP forms an important part of this strategy.

Technology

The site is comprised of a number of Node.js microservices which handle user, search and content data, as well as UI and admin interfaces built in React. The UI component is built in Next.js, which allows us to implement server-rendered React using a well-supported framework

My role

Worked mainly on the UI implementation prior to launch, now working on features across the site's front & back-end microservices with a focus om the site's React components.
