British Medical Journal
The BMJ
The BMJ is one of the world's leading general medical journals as well as one of the oldest, first published in 1840. The journal's website has been online since 1995, and now hosts an archive back to the 19th century, as well as more modern innovations such as rapid peer responses to research, and online polls of medical professionals.
As part of re-platforming the site from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7, the opportunity was taken to redesign the site in order to make it fully responsive, as well as to rebrand it with the journal's new branding while being careful not to make changes that would provoke complaints from the site's users.
The new site launched to a generally positive response and continues to be used.
Technology
The site was built in Drupal 7 with a custom theme based on Bootstrap and customised for the BMJ's requirements.
My role
